Welcome to the Whistler Media House

Tourism Whistler welcomes you to the Whistler Media House (WMH). As of March 1, 2010 WMH is now closed. During the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, WMH operated as a full service broadcasting facility, offering secure and fully-wired networking and operating space. WMH provided broadcast transmission, editing and tech support - as well as bookable stand-up locations throughout Whistler Village. In addition to facilitating interviews with athletes, dignitaries and contacts for Whistler-related stories, WMH provided access to resources including Tourism Whistler's extensive library of images and b-roll.

Tourism Whistler will continue to provide video and images over the coming weeks, capturing the action of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

Today's Story Starter: "Whistler Adaptive Sports Program carves unique tracks for skiers with a disability"

Consistently ranked as North America's premier ski and snowboard resort, Whistler Blackcomb has a big reputation.  And an even bigger incentive to keep raising the bar - for every skier and rider.  The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program's Ski and Snowboard Lessons do just that with a series of onslope adventures aimed to bring out the burgeoning skiers and boarders in people of all abilities.  A non-profit organization aimed to make sports accessible, the program caters to a broad spectrum of skiers and boarders, from beginner to advanced, and a line-up of highly-trained, certified instructors, guides and assistants ensures access to every glide and turn is more than just a winter night's dream.  Instruction is tailored to each participant, and options are as bountiful as the powder: programs include Sit-skiing with bi-skis and mono-skis, ideal for adventurers with limited lower body strength and disabilities; offerings for visually and hearing impaired skiers; standing skiers using two, three and four track techniques; and individuals with developmental or cognitive disabilities.  Should boarding be boss, the program also offers up an array of powder-packed outings perfect for breaking out the snowboards.  Beyond the tutored turns, Whistler Blackcomb's snowy setting also proves an ideal environment for individuals to develop social skills, improve communication and build self-esteem.  Whistler is where most of the events in the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will be held, including the opening and closing ceremonies. www.whistleradaptive.com
